Director’s Parent Letter: Week Ending with September 5th

Dear Parents,

Your children enjoyed a great second week on the Creek. Although Labor Day has come and gone and the summer heat remains, WCM is busy with its fall program and the misty mornings suggest that autumn is approaching. To the delight of our teachers and staff, happy faces abound in our classrooms and on our playgrounds.

For some children, morning drop off can be difficult. Some are experiencing school for the first time; others are adapting to a new classroom. We want to let you know that, for the vast majority of students, tears disappear within minutes of arriving at school. Our insightful teaching staff have many creative ways to help your child transition into the classroom – through engaging in challenging work, connecting with other children in the classroom, or simply through a kind, nurturing spirit. If you have any concerns about your child’s transition back to school, please do not hesitate to contact your teacher for specific feedback.

Fundraising

Here at Woods Creek Montessori, we encourage you to support our local Lexington and Rockbridge Co. businesses. However, we understand that sometimes you can’t always find everything you might need in town. So if you find yourself looking to place an order at Amazon.com, please consider clicking through or bookmarking this link: http://www.amazon.com/?tag=woodcreemont-20. WCM will receive a credit for every Amazon purchase through this link!

The Applebee’s Pancake Breakfast hosted by WCM teachers and staff will be on Saturday September 13th from 8 to 10 am. Please bring your children to this Saturday morning breakfast hosted by their special WCM teachers.

Volunteer Projects

We are still looking for someone to turn mulch on toddler and pre toddler playgrounds, ideally once a week.

Important Dates:

  • September 13: Applebee’s Breakfast Fundraiser
  • September 15: W&L Faculty Meeting – care will be provided at Montessori until 6:30 pm for W&L employees. A RATS van will transport Waddell students to WCM for W&L faculty and staff who sign up with Anne Remington, W&L Work Life Coordinator.
  • September 16: Board of Director’s meeting 8 pm

Please do not hesitate to call me any time at school or on my cell phone (540) 416-3693 if you have any questions or concerns.

Many kind thanks for your support,

Caroline Russell
