Director’s Parent Letter: Week Ending with September 4th

Dear Parents:

I hope many of you are enjoying a long weekend. In recognition of Labor Day, WCM will be closed on Monday Sept. 7, except for those who have registered for our extended care day. For those students attending school on Monday, please be sure to bring a morning snack as we will not be providing our usual morning snack.

In addition to our great volunteer program and our in-house fundraising projects, there are a number of easy ways you can support our school as you go about your daily routine.

First, we encourage you to support our local Lexington and Rockbridge Co. businesses. These business owners are our friends and neighbors, and help to make Lexington and Rockbridge County a vibrant place to live. On September 15th, Ladles and Linens and Walkabout Outfitter in Lexington will host Support Your School day. Any purchase made at either store that day will benefit Woods Creek Montessori – please mention our school name if you buy something on September 15th. For more details, see the attached flyer.

In addition, we will soon distribute a Kroger barcode so we can receive free educational awards. All you have to do is scan the barcode once, directly after your Kroger Card, and you will link your Kroger Card to Woods Creek Montessori. Participating in this program costs you nothing, and does not take away from your fuel or store points. Parent participation in this program last year was a great success for WCM, earning us free iPads for our primary teachers, so please be sure to bring the barcode the next time you shop at Kroger!

We know that you may not always find everything you need in town. So, if you do find yourself looking to place an order at Amazon.com, please consider clicking on the image below, or bookmarking http://www.amazon.co/?tag=woodcreemont-20. Any purchase on Amazon through our school link will donate a portion of your purchase to our school. Using the link will not affect your purchase or Prime account in any way.

Volunteer Projects

We ask that each family contribute 12 hours per year (6 per semester). We have a sampling of volunteer opportunities on our website: http://woodscreekmontessori.org/parents/ (click on the green tab on right that says Sign Up for Volunteer Opportunities). Once you have completed hours, please email Jess (jess@woodscreekmontessori.org) as she will be recording parent volunteer hours.
